PODER and the Communities United for Health & Justice (CUHJ) coalition are putting on a one-day summit to bring together community leaders to speak about the projects and programs that will create more just and resilient economies. SELC will speak with other community based organizations and community leaders involved in a wide array of enterprises that reflect the environmental justice principles and economic equity values that are strengthening our communities.
To read more about the CUHJ's approach and research findings, please visit their "People Powered Solutions for Neighborhood Jobs & Local Economy" page where you can find their report about new models, economic alternatives, and long lasting changes they are implementing in their communities.
The summit is a grassroots focused gathering focused specifically on PODER and CUHJ's District 11 neighbors, multiracial youth, Latino, Chinese, and Filipino immigrant families. Sessions will be translated into four languages.
District Supervisor John Avalos will be there, as well as heads of the Office of Economic & Workforce Development, and Office of Housing & Community Development.
