In this policy, “The Law Center,” “we,” “our,” and/or “us”" refers to Law Center staff, board members, interns, volunteers, and consultants, all of whom are bound by law or contract to keep confidential information they receive as part of their assistance to the Law Center.
The Law Center does not sell or rent member, donor, or website visitor information under any circumstances without prior consent.
Information We Collect
We may collect a variety of information from or about you or your devices from various sources, as described below. If you do not provide your information as requested, you may not be able to use our Services if that information is necessary to provide our Services or we are legally required to collect it.
Information You Provide to Us
Membership Information. If you sign up to become a member of our Services, such as a monthly member or attend our events, we ask for information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, and address.
Donation Information. If you choose to make a donation through our Service, we ask for information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, and address.
Payment Information. If you choose to initiate a transaction through our Services, such as by purchasing event registration or donating to us, our third party payment processor will collect payment-related information on our behalf, such as credit and/or debit card or other financial information.
Communications. If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you. For example, if you contact us for customer support, we may receive your name, email address, phone number, the contents of a message, any attachments you may send to us, and any other information you choose to provide you also be signed up for our monthly email newsletter. If you choose to receive our email updates, we collect information from you such as your name, email address, phone number, and address.
Information We Collect When You Use Our Services.
Information from Cookies and Similar Technologies. We collect information using cookies, pixel tags, or similar technologies. Cookies are small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies disappear after you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain after you close your browser, and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to our Services. Please review your web browser’s “Help” file to learn the proper way to modify your cookie settings. Please note that if you delete or choose not to accept cookies from our Services, you may not be able to utilize the features of the Services to their fullest potential.
Device Information. We receive information about the device and software you use to access our Services, such as your internet protocol (IP) address, web browser type, operating system version, phone carrier and manufacturer, and device identifiers.

How We Share the Information We Collect
Vendors and Service Providers. We may share any information we receive with vendors and service providers retained in connection with the provision of our Services.
As Required by Law and Similar Disclosures. We may access, preserve, and disclose your information if we believe doing so is required or appropriate to:

respond to your requests; or
protect your, our, or others’ rights, property, or safety.
Merger, Sale, or Other Asset Transfers. We may transfer your information to service providers, advisors, potential transactional partners, or other third parties in connection with the consideration, negotiation, or completion of a corporate transaction in which we are acquired by or merged with another organization or we sell, liquidate, or transfer all or a portion of our assets. Our Bylaws limit the parties we may sell or transfer assets to, with the goal of ensuring long-term community benefit.
Consent. We may also disclose your information with your permission.
What You Can Access
Through your account settings, you may access, and, in some cases, edit or delete the following information you’ve provided to us:

user profile information, including any content you have uploaded to the Services

Notices; Opting Out
By providing us with your email address (including by “following,” “liking,” linking your account to the Services, etc., on a third party website or network), you consent to our using the email address provided by you to send you Service-related notices, including any notices required by law, in lieu of communication by postal mail. You also agree that we may send you notifications of activity on the Service to the email address you give us, in accordance with any applicable privacy settings. We may use your email address to send you other messages or content, such as, but not limited to, newsletters, additions or changes to features of the Service, or special offers. If you do not want to receive such email messages, you may opt out by visiting https://theselc.nationbuilder.com/unsubscribe or by emailing us your request to firstname.lastname@example.org. Opting out may prevent you from receiving email messages regarding updates, improvements, special features, announcements, or offers. You may not opt out of Service-related emails.
You may be able to add, update, or delete information as explained above. When you update information, however, we may maintain a copy of the unrevised information in our records. You may request deletion of your account by emailing us at email@example.com.
Social Media Plugins
We may integrate social media application program interfaces or plug-ins (“Plug-ins”) from social networks, including Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Xing, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest and/or possibly other companies, into the Website. In order to register as a user with us, you may have the option to sign in using your Facebook or other social media site (“SMS”) login.
For example, when you visit our Website or platform, the plugin creates a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. This allows Facebook to receive information about your visit to our Website or platform with your IP address. If you click the Facebook “Like” button while you are logged on to your Facebook account, you can link the contents of our Website or platform to your Facebook profile. This allows Facebook to assign your visit to our Website or platform to your user account. Please note that as provider of the Website or platform, we receive no notification about the contents of the transmitted data or their use by Facebook. If you do not want Facebook to assign your visit to our Website or platform to your Facebook user account, please log out of your Facebook user account.
We make reasonable efforts to protect your information by using safeguards designed to improve the security of the information we maintain. However, as our Services are hosted electronically, we can make no guarantees as to the security or privacy of your information.
International Transfers of Data
Our Services are hosted in the United States and intended for visitors located within the United States. If you choose to use our Services from the European Union or other regions of the world with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from U.S. law, then please note that you are transferring your personal information outside of those regions to the United States for storage and processing. Also, we may transfer your data from the U.S. to other countries or regions in connection with storage and processing of data, fulfilling your requests, and operating the Services. By providing any information, including personal information, on or to the Services, you consent to such transfer, storage, and processing.
