Helping Texans collectivize in housing, land relations, and work.
Laura supports Texans who want to share ownership of land and are unable to afford it alone. Real estate collectives and land trusts can be elegant and effective solutions for people who want to build supportive, reciprocal relationships with the other beings, human and non-human, around them. She also supports people who want to employ themselves, together, through cooperatively-run LLCs and other structures.
She started her solo estate planning practice, the Law Office of Laura Tucker, in 2022. She approaches estate planning as an act of love and responsibility. By planning in advance, her clients care for themselves by expressing their wishes for incapacity and end of life. They also care for others by easing the administrative burdens on those they leave behind.
After graduating from The University of Texas School of Law, Laura was an Equal Justice Works fellow at Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid in Alpine, Far West Texas. She piloted a pro se divorce clinic and found meaning in empowering her clients to understand their rights and advocate for themselves.
Laura is a native Austinite. She lived at French House Co-op as an undergraduate and was the house representative to the Board of Directors of the Inter-Cooperative Council of Austin. She received her B.A. in Plan II Honors, from The University of Texas at Austin, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
Laura is currently a member of the Stewardship Circle of the Co-operative Professionals Guild.
She loves to chat about forest gardening, horses, the Celtic harp, and the etymology of any word.
