Participatory Decision-Making at Every Step

For groups to thrive under stress and solve complex problems, we need to strengthen our ability to integrate divergent points of view, navigate unspoken and structural power dynamics, and celebrate both our different processing and communication styles and the experiences that influence our views. When we do this well, we create honest, transparent and participatory decision-making processes that produce more effective and durable decisions! 

Join Nonprofit Democracy Network collaborator Jenny Leis to demystify the work of cultivating strong, useful participation in complex group decisions.  Through a colorful, visual experience, we will walk through the 8 steps of any decision making journey, and identify strategies to make each step more participatory. Come prepared to workshop a decision your group is trying to make, and leave with:

• A colorful and useful visual map of the journey of decision-making and what shapes it

• An in-depth handout explaining the “8 steps of decision-making” framework with corresponding tools for increased participation in each step

• A few key tools that you will practice in the workshop to apply immediately

• Reflection about your organization’s decision-making process

Upon registration, participants will receive some optional prep work and resources to review to make the best use of our workshop time.
