Celebrate economic transformation in the East Bay and the launch of two groundbreaking cooperatives! The East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative and People Power Solar Cooperative will engage everyday people – like YOU – to co-own, develop, and steward our community’s critical assets: permanently affordable real estate and renewable energy.
Each ticket includes free dinner (feat. Sariwa Kitchen) and free drinks. Join a community leading the change and own a share of equitable real estate and clean energy in the East Bay!
How it Started: More than two years in the making, these cooperatives have been incubated and funded by the Sustainable Economies Law Center. Each now has a dynamic leadership team ready to welcome hundreds or thousands of members.
The East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative
East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative (EB PREC) builds community sovereignty and collective wealth among underserved and historically disenfranchised Black, Indigenous, and POC communities using community investment campaigns that bring everyday people together to organize, finance, acquire, and co-steward land and housing on our own terms. Land without landlords!
How it Works: EB PREC is a multi-stakeholder consumer & housing cooperative operated by a democratic staff collective. Properties are crowd-financed through the sale of membership shares to the community and each property acquisition is organized by small groups of tenants and neighbors. East Bay residents who want live cooperatively will identify buildings in their neighborhood to shepherd into the cooperative, permanently removing them from the speculative market, and creating permanent affordability. People being pushed out can push back by stewarding land and housing on our own terms!
People Power Solar Cooperative
People Power Solar Cooperative allows us to OWN solar power and shape the Bay Area’s clean energy economy together!
How it Works: We engage everyday people in organizing, financing, and stewarding solar projects for long-term community ownership and democratic control. As we grow to engage thousands of community members building hundreds of solar projects, we create people power: aggregated buying power, economies of scale, social capital, connected communities, good local jobs, and a strong voice for just transition. Come buy a share of our cooperative to finance our first solar project, hosted on the roof of local labor and environmental leader, Lora Jo Foo!
NOTE: Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Please purchase your ticket -- either below or on our Eventbrite page -- in advance for entry.
