Structuring transactions that value people and the environment in Southern California

Chris Cohen is owner and attorney at Ojai Law Corporation in Ojai, California, where he focuses his practice on estate planning, trust administration, and related business law matters. His experience as a Legal Fellow with the Sustainable Economies Law Center since 2015 has shaped a unique perspective that complements his work serving individuals, families, and small businesses throughout the Ojai Valley and surrounding communities. Building on a practice that has advised local families through multiple generations, Chris helps clients navigate the nuances of succession planning with an emphasis on clarity, continuity, and purpose.

Ojai Law Corporation brings together the longstanding Ojai estate planning practice formerly known as Waite, Jacobs & Atkinson and Chris's prior firm, Sustainable Law Group, one of California's first B Corp and 1% for the Planet law firms. Through Sustainable Law Group, Chris advised cooperatives, nonprofits, and mission-driven businesses on governance, organizational development, and transactions. Today, he draws on that experience as part of a tradition of community-based legal service.

Chris also assists in the management and operations of Land Clinic, a project of Ojai Law Corporation with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Land Clinic explores how property, contract, estate planning, and real estate law can be organized around systems, tools, and processes that connect people to the ecologies and histories of place. In addition, Chris serves on the Legal Advisory Committee and Board of Directors of the Ojai Valley Defense Fund and previously served as Chair of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors' Ojai Valley Municipal Advisory Council.
