ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Hasmik Geghamyan is a community lawyer committed to social and economic justice. Hasmik believes that a cross-functional model of activism, policy, organizing, and law can be effectively used to bring about transformative social and economic change. Hasmik practices in the areas of civil rights, nonprofit law, and democratically-led social enterprises that include worker-owned cooperatives, small businesses. Her law office's active vision is to be part of a long-term, thriving community rooted in resilience and empowerment.

Christina Oatfield is an attorney specializing in legal issues affecting small businesses, cooperatives, and nonprofits. She obtained her license to practice law through an uncommon path: by studying under the guidance of practicing attorneys through the California Office Study Program, which is an apprenticeship and independent study alternative to law school. Before staring her own law practice in 2018, she worked at the Sustainable Economies Law Center for eight years leading legislative advocacy campaigns.
