Maya Miracle

Maya Miracle (she/her) is a Community Studies major at UC Santa Cruz studying economic and political justice. Originally from Asheville, NC and now living in Oakland, CA. Maya enjoys being in nature, seeing live music, and going to new restaurants. Maya is passionate about economic and racial justice, collective ownership, and joyful social movements. Prior to SELC, her passion for food and community led to her becoming a head cook at several community-centered restaurants. Her passion and struggle with mental health motivated her to become a Wellness Ambassador at her community college, focusing on allocating resources to and destigmatizing mental health.

Maya’s work at the law center focuses on expanding the accessibility of legal resources needed for creating a solidarity economy and alternative modes of ownership. She works to translate academic and legal jargon into plain English, primarily focusing on expanding the legal resources necessary for the growth of cooperatives for the benefit of workers.
