How to Run for City Council

We warmly invite you to our Policy Cafe about How to Run for Oakland City Council, a two-part event (you can come to both or either!):

1. From 5:00PM - 6:00PM: Teach-In

From 5:00PM - 6:00PM, Mari Rose Taruc and Noni Session will share their experiences running political campaigns for Oakland City Council seats! Tia Taruc-Myers will also provide a step-by-step guide to running for office.

2. From 6:00PM - 7:00PM: One-on-One Policy Consultations

From 6:00PM to 7:00PM, bring your campaign and/or policy idea and we’ll facilitate individualized brainstorming sessions, where you can get advice on questions such as: How do I decide if I should run for City Council? What are the next steps after I do decide? How can I get involved with someone else's political campaign?

This event is part of our Transformative Policymakers project, and it’s modeled after our Resilient Communities Legal Cafe, which provides donation-based legal advice for the community.

And there will be snacks!
