Increasing Access to Capital for Marginalized Communities

People of color continue to face obstacles in accessing capital due to racist elements of the old economy. In order to ensure that our work does not perpetuate those elements, and ensure that sources of capital we are advocating for benefit all, we are continuing to strengthen our relationships with organizations in the growing racial justice movements.

What We're Working On

Our coalition-building with groups working with and representing farming communities of color has reconfirmed that we need to unlock new sources of community capital, because conventional financing does not meet their needs. In the last six months, we have expanded existing, and developed new, relationships with organizations working toward a vision for a farmland commons that is rooted in racial equity.
