Join us in our second town hall for a ton of exciting updates on our efforts to reform California’s food safety laws to expand opportunities to support home-based food microenterprises. We have been collaborating with environmental health regulators on policy proposals and we want to open this conversation up to all those interested in shaping the future of a more inclusive food system. We would like feedback on these proposals in order to best incorporate economic empowerment, public health, and other community considerations. After a few opening updates from the event hosts (the Sustainable Economies Law Center and Josephine)about tentative policy proposals that aim to expand these enterprises, we will open the floor to cooks, consumers, regulators, public health advocates, and any other attendees to brainstorm other potential considerations regarding the logistics and regulation of home-based food businesses. We hope for a thoughtful dialogue that aspires to increase opportunity for permissible home-based food micro-enterprises.

o  Same-day service

o  What should be the responsibilities of the web platforms selling food?

o  Legal and ownership structure of web-based platform

o  What limits on volume of sales or revenues would be appropriate?

o  Should the law include any additional health or environmental criteria, such as a ban on disposable plastics or limits on sugary foods?
