Community Land Trusts &
Permanent Real Estate Coops

If you do not think you will be financially positioned to match the bid and/or you live in a multi-unit property (1-4 family dwellings), reach out to a community land trust (CLT) or permanent real estate cooperative (PREC) to see if they have the resources and capacity to place a bid. DO NOT wait until the auction to do this, start this effort as soon as you know the house is in pre-foreclosure. This action has the potential to keep you in your home with the added benefit of removing it from the speculative market, while also making it permanently affordable! Here's a list of Community Land Trusts and Permanent Real Estate Cooperatives
