This activity is approved by the California State Bar for 1 MCLE credit for the subfield of “Civility in the Legal Profession.”
A webinar presented by the Law Center’s Janelle Orsi, Tia Taruc-Myers, and friends
Join us for an hour of treats: stories, insights, practices, and contemplations to foster love, caring, and cooperation in our work. The legal profession suffers from an epidemic of bias, incivility, and suffering. The State Bar of California keeps adding to lawyers’ mandatory continuing education requirements on these topics, with the latest being a one-hour training “promoting civility and eliminating bias-driven incivility in the legal profession.”
In our first and second editions of Lucky Charms for Lawyers, we offered tips and tricks to promote wellness by fostering love and cooperation in our lives and work.
In this Civility Edition, we’ll explore a root cause of incivility in the legal profession: Hierarchies of power and worth that hurt us on the inside, lead to biased thoughts and behaviors, and keep us from enjoying mutual care and collaboration in our work and beyond. We’ll also share some of our learnings about navigating interpersonal conflict.
No registration fee. We’ll send you an email afterward and invite you to make a contribution if you feel inspired.
