The Sustainable Economies Law Center provides direct legal support to individuals and groups who are working to create new solutions for resilient local economies. The Resilient Communities Legal Cafe is usually a first-come first-serve legal advice clinic.
But this Legal Cafe is special.
We're in a unique situation where millions of people will soon get $1,200 that they weren't expecting to receive. In this time of crisis, some may be wondering how they can redirect that check back to the community and those who need it more. So there's a movement to redistribute stimulus checks if you are able. At the same time, a growing number of mutual aid groups are faced with questions about gifts, loans, taxes, and what to do with that $1,200.
So we've organized a special mutual aid teach-in and legal cafe!

Note: Keep an eye out for an automated response e-mail when you RSVP. The e-mail will have instructions on how to attend our Legal Cafe remotely and an intake form that we need you to fill out.
