New Opportunities in Community-Based Solar Energy

3451c235efc8bc86-wsolor.jpgWe often think about solutions to climate change in terms of policy changes on the federal and international levels or behavioral changes on the individual level. One approach between those extremes that is often overlooked is community-based solutions. In fact, there are lots of ways communities can facilitate more clean energy in their communities. This includes crowdfunding solar projects, Community Choice Aggregation, Solar Gardens and more.

Join us for a presentation from our friends Andreas and Gavi from RE-volv, a nonprofit solar financing organization, whose mission is to empower individuals and communities to invest collectively in renewable energy. This talk will explore some of the creative options that exist for community-based renewable energy solutions and track some of the progress that has been made around the country at the community level. Andreas and Gavi will also elaborate on RE-volv’s solar financing model which combines crowdfunding with a revolving fund for community-based solar projects, look at other innovations in the space, and discuss the implications of community-based solutions for the climate movement and the solar industry.
