Sustainable Economies Law Center believes in policymaking from the ground up. We advocate for, and on behalf of, communities we work with to generate positive legal change to support resilient local economies. That's why we rely on people power to successfully engage and persuade legislators to vote for our bills - WE NEED YOU!
This year, SELC is proposing a bill in the California Legislature called the Seed Exchange Democracy Act. The bill will protect and promote local community-based seed sharing initiatives from application of the California Seed Law, which is supposed to regulate commercial sales, not noncommercial sharing. This legislative campaign follows from our education, research, and advocacy support over the last year through our Save Seed Sharing campaign - read more about it here!
