Cooperative Solutions to Senior Housing

Cooperative solutions to housing! This workshop is about the senior housing crisis that is being felt acutely throughout the Bay Area. The rates of homelessness and widespread housing insecurity among elders are unprecedented and will only continue to grow as the shortage of affordable housing plagues society’s most vulnerable.

While there are no easy solutions, this teach-in will provide updates about new shared housing options and supportive services that might be of assistance in planning for the “third chapter." RSVP BELOW!

We will discuss:

  • Berkeley’s New Laws on Accesory Dwelling Units

  • A potential home share program in Berkeley

  • Creating or finding senior cooperatives and cohousing

  • Student and nonprofit organizations that assist seniors in looking for shared housing, or aging in place
